Questions:  Why does my senior pet need to see the doctor twice a year?

If you used the  link to determine your pet’s age in human years, it clearly points out that dogs and cats age much more rapidly than humans.

Now consider that your physician advises you to see them annually for a physical examination; and we determined that senior pets can age up to 7 human years in just one year of their life. It’s actually like your veterinarian is asking you to bring your pet in once every 3.5 years since your pet is aging up to 3.5 years every 6 months.  Just like your own health can rapidly change in the span of 4 – 7 years so can your pet.  Your veterinarian is more likely to detect changes in your pet’s conditions by seeing them twice a year and performing once a year senior wellness testing.
